     Willem was labourer. The four oldest brothers started their loam, manure, sand and gravel transport company in 1914. Eventually they had three boats. At first they used sails and later on a single piston diesel engine. The motorboat was named Dempsey, hence the nickname of the van Vliets.

Individual Note:
     Teunis was the technical man of the four oldest brothers. The four of them started their loam, manure, sand and gravel transport company in 1914. Eventually they had three boats. At first they used sails and later on a single piston diesel engine. The motorboat was named Dempsey, hence the nickname of the van Vliets. Teunis used the winter months to knit underwear and socks using a manual knitting machine. He also made wooden shoes for the whole family.

Teunis was never married and lived with his youngest sister, Jansje, at the Hortemansdijk F108.
